Spyderco - Sage 5 Lightweight - burnt-orange - REX 121
Spyderco's Sage Series was created to highlight folding knife locking mechanisms and their inventors.
One of its most successful members, the Sage 5, highlights Spyderco's own innovative the Compression-Lock. This is a locking mechanism on the back of the knife. It works by clamping part of the liner onto the back of the blade this will keep the knife in the open position.
The Sage is equipped with a blade made of CPM REX 121. This steel was introduced to the market in 1997 by Crucible. This carbon steel has an incredible hardness of about 68 HRC, which gives the knife high wear resistance and good sharpness retention.
The handle is made of fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) scales and stainless steel liners. The scales not only make the knife surprisingly light, but have a fantastic grip due to the integrated pattern.
In addition, the Sage 5 has a reversible Tip-Up carry clip and a lanyard eye.
